Equine Spirit

A few days ago I had the pleasure to teach a private group of horse carers.
How horses respond to healing energy is what amazes those who share their lives with equine souls. Behaviour, body language, kinship, spirituality.
Horses have a reputation for being unusually sensitive—physically, emotionally, and even socially—and that’s a big reason why so many owners are struck by how they respond during calm, focused “healing” interactions whether that's framed as energy work, quiet bonding, or simply attentive presence.

Horses are prey animals, which means their nervous systems are tuned for subtle cues. They constantly scan for shifts in tension, breathing, posture, and intention. This sensitivity—studied in areas like Equine Behavioural Science—makes them highly reactive not just to physical touch, but to emotional states.
What some people describe as “healing energy” often overlaps with:
*A human becoming very still and regulated - slow breathing, relaxed muscles
*Focused attention on the horse
*Gentle, non-threatening touch or proximity
From the horse’s perspective, this can feel like safety and it certainly did today.
An incredible day with four lovely people and their beautiful equine companions.
